The Doula Association is a vibrant network of doulas who have all completed The BirthBliss Academy doula training course. Unfortunately, there are many doulas forced to work on their own and prevented from joining doula organisations because they haven’t completed a doula course that is approved by the specific organisation.
The BirthBliss Academy wants to change that by offering an alternative way for doulas who have completed a comprehensive doula course so that they can join The Doula Association. We believe that anyone who wants to work as a doula should attend a doula course, even if they are experienced birth professionals, such as midwives or antenatal teachers, as the doula’s role needs to be fully understood. This alternative way to joining The Doula Association should not be seen as a ‘fast-track’ doula course and we recommend that you look at the full doula training with The BirthBliss Academy if you are a birth professional already. The following criteria should be fulfilled:
Completion of an in person or virtually face-to-face doula course
Contact with a course facilitator for a minimum of 24 hours
The one-day workshop takes place virtually via Zoom and on completion, you can sign up for membership with The Doula Association.
What do we cover in the one-day workshop?
Birth Completion Session
Birth Physiology and the Path to Birth
Vision and mission of The Doula Association
The Doula Association Code of Conduct and Grievance Process
What you can expect of TDA and what TDA expects of you
