Frequently Asked Questions
An Accredited Doula has completed the BirthBliss Aspiring Doula Foundation Course and been documenting and reflecting on her first doula experiences. As part of her accreditation, she has been individually supported by an experienced Doula Coach. A doula is constantly reflecting on her work and continues to develop her skills.
Who can be Accredited?
The accreditation is open to everyone who has completed the BirthBliss Aspiring Doula Foundation course. Doulas that live in the UK and Ireland, who are choosing to go through the Recognition Process with Doula UK, will automatically become accredited with the BirthBliss Academy on completion of the Doula UK process.
How does it work?
A new doula will have to support at four births and/or four postnatal jobs. A report will be written after each job, which will include the parent’s views and feedback. The doula will then have a conversation with her Doula Coach following each of her jobs.
Is there a Code of Conduct?
BirthBliss Academy asks their Accredited Doulas to sign the BirthBliss Code of Conduct.
What will it cost?
The total cost for accreditation is £225 for the birth accreditation and £225 for the postnatal accreditation. If you're doing both at the same time, the cost is £400. There is an initial Enrolment Fee and then the doula will pay her Doula Coach after each completed job.
A doula can become accredited as either as a birth or postnatal doula or as both.
