What Is the BirthBliss Doula Certification Programme?

Introduction to the BirthBliss Doula Certification Programme

After completing the BirthBliss Doula Academy training and receiving a Diploma in Birth and Postnatal Doula Support, many doulas choose to continue developing through the BirthBliss Doula Certification Programme.

The BirthBliss Doula Certification Programme exists to support doulas as they step from training into real work with real families. We do not see certification as a checklist or a hoop to jump through. We see it as a period of being held while you gain experience, make sense of what you are doing and slowly grow into the doula you are becoming.

This stage of the journey matters. The first births and postnatal jobs can feel tender, stretching and at times unsettling. Having someone alongside you, someone who understands the work and the responsibility it carries, makes a difference.

Becoming a Certified BirthBliss Doula means moving beyond training into supported professional experience. It means you have worked with families, reflected on your experiences and been supported through that process by an experienced doula who walks beside you.

The BirthBliss Diploma and Certification Pathway

The BirthBliss training course provides the foundation for doula work and includes reflective pre- and post-course module work alongside the core training itself. Students who complete the course receive a Diploma in Birth and Postnatal Doula Support.

Certification is a separate supported pathway that takes place afterwards, once doulas begin working with families and building real-life experience.

Why the Certification Programme matters

This programme exists because doulas deserve support too.

It offers a clear and gentle pathway from newly trained to grounded and confident, without rushing or pressuring the process.

Families can trust that a Certified BirthBliss Doula is not working in isolation, but is supported, thoughtful and committed to learning from experience.

The certification process matters because it:

  • Builds trust, families know their doula is supported and guided by an experienced coach

  • Offers meaningful recognition, certification reflects integrity, care and commitment to the work

  • Supports learning through real experience, each job becomes an opportunity to reflect and grow

  • Helps you build confidence in your business, including boundaries, fees and the way you choose to work

What you will gain from the Certification Programme

By completing the BirthBliss Doula Certification Programme, you will:

  • Feel more grounded and confident in your doula work

  • Be recognised as a Certified BirthBliss Doula

  • Have regular one to one support and space to talk things through

  • Know you are not carrying early experiences alone

  • Grow into your role with someone walking alongside you

This programme is about becoming steady in yourself, so you can be steady for others.

Terms & Conditions:

The Certification Programme includes a 24 month period of coaching support with your chosen Doula Coach. Your 24 months begin from the date you sign up with your coach. If you need more time beyond the 24 months you will be able to re apply, and any client work already signed off will be carried forward.

There may be times in life when you need to pause your Certification Programme. You can put the process on hold if you are dealing with a bereavement, long term health challenges, or maternity leave. The intention is always that you continue when you feel ready, and we will support you in easing back in when the time is right.
