Which doula
course is right for me?
The same education. Different ways of learning.
There isn't a right or wrong way to train as a doula.
Some people learn best surrounded by others, asking questions as they arise and sharing ideas in a small group.
Others need the flexibility to study around work, family or caring responsibilities, returning to the material whenever it suits them.
At The BirthBliss Doula Academy, both routes follow the same curriculum, are taught to the same high standard and provide the same ongoing support. The difference isn't the quality of the training.
It's simply the way you learn.

What every BirthBliss student receives
Birth and postnatal
doula training
A comprehensive course preparing you to support families during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
The BirthBliss philosophy
An approach built on empathy, practical skills, reflective practice and professional boundaries.
Ongoing
support
Access to our community, live Zoom sessions and continued learning beyond the course itself.
Certificate and Diploma pathway
Successful completion of the course leads to a Certificate of Completion. Those who also complete the reflective modules are awarded the Diploma in Birth and Postnatal Doula Support.
FEDANT
accredited
Training recognised by the Federation of Antenatal Educators.
Certification
pathway
The opportunity to continue into the optional BirthBliss Certification Programme as you begin supporting families.
Whichever course you choose, you'll become part of the same BirthBliss community.
You're not choosing a different standard of education. You're choosing the learning environment that suits you best.
A simple way to decide
You enjoy learning alongside other people
The in person course may be the right choice for you.
Spend four immersive days learning with Kicki and a maximum of eight participants. There is time for discussion, practical activities, questions and personal feedback in a supportive environment.
When the course finishes, you'll also receive full access to the complete online programme, allowing you to revisit every lesson whenever you need to.
You need flexibility
The online self paced course may fit your life more easily.
Study whenever it suits you, pause when life becomes busy and return whenever you're ready. You'll also be invited to live Zoom Doula Days where you can ask questions and connect with other students.
If you later decide you'd like the experience of learning in person, you can upgrade to an in person course by paying only the difference in course fees.
You're still deciding
Many people don't know which route is right until they've met us.
Our free taster session gives you the opportunity to experience the BirthBliss approach, meet Kicki and ask any questions before making your decision.
There's no pressure to enrol. It's simply a chance to see whether BirthBliss feels like the right place for you.

Why we keep our in person courses small
Every BirthBliss in-person course is limited to eight participants.
Smaller groups create space for conversation, reflection and individual support. There is time to ask questions, practise new skills and explore the situations that often become the most valuable learning experiences.
Many graduates tell us that this close, supportive environment became one of the highlights of their training.
Questions people often ask
Your doula course is where it begins
Completing your BirthBliss course and receiving your Diploma in Birth & Postnatal Doula Support is an important milestone, but you don't then have to work everything out on your own.
You'll continue to have access to the BirthBliss community, our members' area with resources and templates and regular live Zoom sessions where you can keep learning, ask questions and stay connected with other doulas.
As you begin working with families, you can also choose to continue into the BirthBliss Certification Programme, where you'll work alongside an experienced Doula Coach and have somewhere to take the questions, experiences and situations that naturally arise when you start practising as a doula.
Every BirthBliss graduate also receives six months free membership of The Doula Directory, giving you a place to create your professional profile and begin making it easier for families looking for a doula to find you.
The course gives you the knowledge and preparation to begin. The support afterwards is there to help you find your feet as you put that learning into practice.
