You won’t be learning alone; we also offer interactive Zoom meetings for online students, along with access to our monthly ‘Doula the Doula’ sessions, plus optional events and community meetups throughout the year. You’ll be joining a warm and supportive network of like-minded people on the same journey.
This course is for anyone who feels that deep pull towards supporting women and families at one of the most powerful times of life. It’s perfect if you’re an aspiring doula just starting out, a mum looking for a meaningful new career path, or simply someone who has always felt drawn to birthwork but needs the flexibility to fit training around your life.
Whether you’re brand new to this world or returning after some time away, the course gives you the knowledge, tools, and confidence to begin your journey. More than that, it offers a supportive community and ongoing guidance so you never feel like you’re doing it alone.
If you’ve ever thought, I’d love to do this, but I’m not sure where to start, this course is exactly for you.
Once you’ve completed the self-paced course, you’ll receive a BirthBliss Academy Certificate of Completion and be ready to start working with your first clients as a doula. Our training equips you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to begin your journey.
That said, being a doula isn’t about reaching a fixed point of qualification; it’s a continuous path of learning, growing, and deepening your understanding with every family you support. If you’d like extra guidance as you begin, our optional Accreditation Programme offers coaching and structured support through your first four birth or postnatal jobs.
Yes. The BirthBliss Academy self-paced course is approved by Doula UK and FEDANT, and it meets the standards required to begin working as a doula in the UK.
If you’re planning to work outside the UK, it’s worth considering that maternity systems can vary significantly from country to country. A course designed specifically for your region might give you more relevant information about local practices, legal requirements, and cultural expectations. That said, many international students still choose our course for its strong foundation in person-centred, trauma-informed care.
When you enrol in the self-paced online doula course, you’ll receive access to engaging video lessons, downloadable resources, practical exercises, and real-life case studies to help you build both knowledge and confidence.
You’ll also receive:
Access to our private Facebook group, where you can connect with a warm, supportive community of fellow doulas
A free 6-month listing on The Doula Directory to start promoting your services
Invitations to our Doula the Doula sessions, interactive Zoom calls, and other live community events
Regular Zoom Doula Days are optional.
The flexibility to upgrade to an in-person course later by simply paying the difference in price
There’s a lot of support available to you throughout the course and beyond. However, if you’d like more personalised, one-to-one guidance, our Accreditation Programme offers structured mentoring and deeper support through your first few jobs. This is optional and comes at an additional cost.
Absolutely. Many doulas successfully train and build thriving practices through online-only learning. Our self-paced course is thoughtfully designed to feel personal and immersive, with evidence-based content, real-world examples, and trauma-informed foundations.
You won’t be learning alone; the ongoing support from our community through the private Facebook group and regular Zoom sessions helps to build on and deepen the learning from the course materials. It’s a wonderful way to stay connected, ask questions, share experiences, and feel part of something bigger as you grow into your doula role.
The full price of the self-paced online doula course is £648, and you can choose to pay in six monthly instalments of £108 if that suits you better. There’s no extra cost for choosing the payment plan, as we want to make the course as accessible as possible.
Once enrolled, you’ll receive lifetime access to the materials, along with support through our community, invitations to events, and a free listing on The Doula Directory.
If you choose a payment plan, please note there are a few important terms and conditions:
Your Certificate of Completion will only be issued once the full course fee has been paid.
We reserve the right to pause access to materials, resources, online groups, mentoring sessions, or bonuses if payments fall behind. Full access is restored once your account is up to date.
